From the 10th through the 14th of March, we were in California. Oceanside, California, to be more exact. Actually, if we want to be 100% exact, we were on Camp Pendleton (my brother-in-law’s a Marine).
I’ve already done this before and talked about it on my blog, so when I was trying to think of a creative way to recap it all for you, I was running a blank. Until I realized something.
You need to know my opinions on Cali! So … I decided to review it! Only my review method are going to be a little … different. (And by different I mean crazy.) (And by crazy I mean please slap me in a straight jacket.) (*maniacal laugh*)
Rules for the Review
- Add a point whenever something good happens.
- Subtract a point whenever something bad happens.
- Start with 0 points. Go up or down from there.
Simple, right? *rubs hands together* Let’s see what California scores!
The airport was pretty nice. +1 = 1
However, these palm trees kept getting in the way of my camera – er, Kindle. -1 = 0
Palm trees, though. +1 = 1
It was raining when we got there. -1 = 0
We didn’t have to use this parking garage. +1 = 1
And that’s a taxi. +1 = 2
I finally got out my camera. +1 = 3
But the first picture I took with it (and many to follow) were blurry. -1 = 2
But you can see the raindrops on the car window. +1 = 3
The rental car was cool! +1 = 4. But it was also dirty. -1 = 3. And it pulled to the right … like, badly. -1 = 2. And the tires sucked. -1 = 1
Thad spent most of trip on this thingy-game-thing. He kept turning the sound on even though Mom and Dad told him not to. -2 = -1
However, it also kept him busy. +5 = 4
James was aware throughout most of the trip. +2 = 6
He’s kinda cute. +1 = 7
This photo is weird and random. -1 = 6
Bad selfies. -2 = 4
I’m not sure why I took these pictures, but it must have been for a good reason. At least, I hope so. +4 = 8
Eight is my favorite number. +1 = 9.
Nine is not my favorite number. -1 = 8
McDonald’s. +1 = 9
I don’t even know. -1 = 8, +1 = 9???
So cool. +5 = 14
Milkshake! +5 = 19
Couldn’t get a good picture, though. -1 = 18
If you’re going to be a psychic, you at least need a cool psychic name. -2 = 16
An alien landing pad? Not cool, Cali. Not cool. -2 = 14
These houses all look alike. -5 = 9
Trees are always in the way. -2 = 7
However, pretty houses! Behind the trees! I think! +2 = 9
Crystal Cove!!! +10 = 19
BONUS = if you got the reference, extra +2. If not, I’ll give it to you anyway. I’m so nice. +2 = 21
So many random arches! I hope those weren’t made with taxpayer’s $$$, Cali! -3 = 18
I didn’t get pictures, but we met my sister and her family at a pizza place that was so frickin’ awful I can’t even talk about it. It took hours for them to bring us pizza, then it was burnt to a crisp, then the second round wasn’t burnt to a crisp but was still awful. And the pop was weird. -5 = 13
And then we kidnapped Claire. +1 = 14
My niece doesn’t want to be photographed. -2 = 12
Getting on base!!! +5 = 17
But trees and poles have it out for me, apparently. -2 = 15
BLUEEEEE SKIIIIIEEEESSSS! SHININ’ ON MEEEEEE … +6 = 21
Car buddies! +2 = 23
We went to an amusement park on the second day (Sunday). I can’t remember the name, but it was fun! (Edit: Belmont Park.)
Lots of rides! +2 = 25
These things make me think that society is turning cannibalistic. -3 = 22
Carousel! +2 = 24
Ride options. Also, you can’t see, but it was established in 1925. OLD THINGS! +6 = 30
I guess it’s called Belmont Park. I like that name. +1 = 31
New shades! +2 = 33
Carousel ride! +5 = 38
This ride was surprisingly fun. +3 = 41
We went on lots of other rides, but I didn’t get pictures of most of them ’cause I was riding them. 😉 Some were fun, some were not. +1 = 42
The fact that I didn’t get pictures was annoying, though. -2 = 40
And there were so many little girls walking around in immodest clothes! I was like, “Do you really think that’s safe …?” -5 = 35
Also, the rollercoaster wasn’t quite as scary as it could have been, y’know? -10 = 25
After that, we went to a decent little hamburger joint along a boardwalk which was behind the park. +1 = 26
Beach. Too many people in the way, though. -5 = 21
-10 = 11. Just ’cause.
It’s an American flag of … flowers, I think? Whatever it is, it’s awesome. +5 = 16
California traffic. UGH. -10 = 6
We didn’t go see this, but it looks cool. +1 = 7
Cities. Blech. -5 = 2
Icecream! +10 = 12
In California, they need an entire business just for moving gorillas. -2 = 10
This is the USS Midway, an aircraft carrier turned museum. It was commissioned in 1945 and was in basically every war/etc. since then until the ’90s.
It was pretty cool. +5 = 15
Inside the airplane-storage-area.
The inside of this ship is too low for tall sailors. -5 = 10
More living quarters. Not sure what to rate these … they’re pretty neat, but on the other hand, claustrophobic.
So I’ll just leave the rating.
And the flight deck … not much to review, but it’s cool. At this point, I was quite done with it and bored, though, sooo … -2 = 8
On our way out, these lovely seagulls said goodbye to us! +3 = 11
A Few Other Things:
I tried some weird drink whose name I can’t remember. Bobbafet? Anyway, I just couldn’t bring myself to like it … the little black blobs were weird! -1 = 10
My sister’s cat loves me more than her. True story.
+5 = 15
I had a pretty good time once or twice, but I didn’t get a ton of work done. +1, -2 = 14
And that’s my review of California! Therefore, Cali gets …
14 points!
Since I have no idea what other places would rate on this scale, who knows if that’s positive or negative.
YAY FOR CALI!!!!
TTFN,

Have you ever been to California? How many points would you give it? Do you have a favorite picture? And most importantly … what’s up with you?
Disclaimer: nothing in this post should be taken seriously. Sorry, Californians, for ruining your home state! Maybe! I don’t know! Not sure if a conclusion was arrived at, to be honest!

This is awesome! xD It’s been years since I’ve been to a base but my brother’s an Army pilot so instead of ships I got to see planes and helicopters and such. Lol. Also – is that a coin operated drink machine on a ship? *cackles*
Nice sunglasses, Kell! It’s cool to see you had fun – minus those blasted palm trees.
Oh my goodness! I totally missed that drink machine on the ship! I have absolutely no clue if it was an old display or a new thing … *stares the picture in shock* I must have walked right past it and not thought about it!
I mean, it must be a real drink machine, because it’s lit up and has modern labels! It looks so weird just sitting there, though … like some time-traveling happened or something … 😛
Thank you! They keep the sun out of my eyes. *nods* And yes, though palm trees … :/ 😛
Exactly! Like… wait a second… hey, maybe someone time traveled and was like ‘y’all good fighters. Here’s this so you never get dehydrated.’
EXACTLY! And they were like, “Wow! Thanks! But we don’t really have any change to operate it with …” Because for some reason they didn’t. And then the one guy who had change (I guess he was not a … change-loser …) was basically hounded to give it up with promises of gifts of paychecks and such when such came in, but he wouldn’t! So they murdered him!
Okay … that went downhill really fast …
“Don’t be stickly with the change, Robert. We need beverages.”
“I’m saving -”
“Money won’t help you in the grave.”
“What?”
*clunk*
LOL!!! This is so perfect …
The trial was three months later. Fortunately, the judge was a former sailor, and he understood how hot the engine rooms could be … and how hard it was to keep properly hydrated …
They stole his change and sold his possessions for more. One man gave an eulogy: “He should’ve changed his ways.”
“He was a good man until the fateful day when he betrayed his countrymen …”
I went to California once when I was 8, to go to Disneyland. I’ll get to go again in 3 years (when I graduate). Your trip looks really interesting, and besides the pizza, the food sounded good! 😃
Ooh, neat! I’ve never been to Disneyland. When I tell people that, they act like I’m deprived or something … 😛 Haha, yes, besides the pizza, it was pretty good! 😉
At 8, I was way to scared to go on basically every good ride. 😂 So I feel like we’re both kind of in the same kind of place. 😛
I can understand that! I really want to go on some amazing rides now, but I haven’t gotten a chance yet. I mean, some of the rides at the place we went were pretty awesome, but I look for even better. 😉
Hmm, that history museum looks AMAZING!
It was! So much fun and interesting. I learned a lot!
Learning is always amazing.
Definitely!
Looks like you had a lot of fun and yet we’re bored. XD.
I don’t think that Cali scores 14 points! I’m gonna have to do a score next time my. Family goes. We went to San Diego Zoo last year, and Disneyland (for freee! I got a previously famous uncle with connections.) plus, I think I’m a bit bias because that’s where my friend isnright now in Bolible college, and that’s where I wanna go for Bible College.
Plus, Sacramento is where my mom and dads family settled down for a while when they first can to America from Russia.
And my grandparents live their.
And my greatest grandparents..
So I’ve got a couple of +s there.
Also, I think towards the middle you started eating more based off of what your eating already was, so if it was too high, you subtracted a lot more then you would have if it was low.
Anyway, that was a fun post. I’m going to Seattle Washington in April and plan to do a trip post too.
I cannot believe how many spelling mistakes were in that comment. I’m sorry Kellyn.
They are so bad it makes me laugh. XD.
LOL, I was just like, “Huh … she must have been in a hurry …” xD
Well no! I was just commenting off of my phone and it was so long there was no way to go back and revise. Plus the *amazing* auto correct butchered most of the mistakes. And you can’t go back and edit it after it’s published… or can you?
AUTO CORRECT IS MY WORST ENEMY! And also my best friend …
Well, I can edit, but I don’t know if you can. Also, it’s kind of scary that I can edit if you can’t … like, I could totally change your words! *dies of the magnitude of the responsibility of being a blogged* 😉
Oh yes! I use that liberty sometimes… mostly if it’s a spammer but the comment makes sense, I’ll just pull out links and fix spelling mistakes and then publish.
Right? It’s awesome. We just can’t let it get to our heads. XD
Mmhmm, yes, if I have spam-ish stuff, or something that got caught in the spam filter for no reason, I’ll edit!
Well, that definitely changes things. Of course, who knows if 14 is a super high score? I’ve never rated a place before. 😉 I’m biased against Cali, too, so that helps. 😛
LOL, perhaps … 😛 I didn’t really think about it. Made it up as I went …
Neat! I’ll have to look for that one.
PSYCH!!! I think that’s a cool name for a physic. 😛 Well, technically, he wasn’t really a physic so……….
Ooh! I just got new shades!! I really like ’em!!! 😀
The Midway!! We went and saw that like three years ago it was super cool! 😀
Sean (or whatever the spelling) Spencer is undoubtedly a cool psychic name. 😉
Oh, really? Yes, it’s pretty awesome!
lol. Yeah. 😀
Umm. Um. Um. KELLYN YOU WERE ON A MILITARY BASE?! AND YOU SAW AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER?! AND YOU TOURED IT?! AND IT WAS COMMISSIONED THE SAME YEAR WWII ENDED?! Yes, I think I just might swoon. That seriously sounds like the most amazing experience EVER! HOW COULD YOU BE BORED AND MINUS RATINGS FOR IT?! That’s like…heaven. Or a piece of it. I’ve always wanted to tour a carrier. *insert all the heart eyes*
*coughs* that’s all. I’ll hush. XD
We were there for like five hours, and I hadn’t eaten anything but an icecream cone all day. 😉 So I was just like, “Can we go now?”
But yes, it was definitely quite cool! It never saw action in WW2, but it did in a lot of other little wars, and the Korean war and such! Basically everything was open for display, and they had different people telling about different things. It was SO complicated! Like, seriously, I got so confused about how all the orders were processed … so much seemed to go into even the tiniest turn to the left, for instance!
I live in California, and I’ve never seen a gorilla-moving truck. 😉 AND YOU’RE BLAMING YOUR BAD SELFIES ON CALIFORNIA????!!! Just saying, it wasn’t CA’s fault.
Huh, go figure. Maybe there aren’t a lot of gorillas after all …
YES I AM! How dare California mess with my face and camera????
I don’t know how it managed. My selfies turn out bad wherever I am.
True, true … same goes for me!
Hmmmm….. I cant blame you for not liking the CA traffic, but were I live in north-eastern CA rush hour is three cars at the same intersection! We have no BIG cities. But we do have a LOT of pine trees! I do not know were you got your pizza but we have Pizza Factory and Papa Murpheys that are good. You should come here instead! 🙂
I like northern California! I’ve been there and it’s awesome! 🙂 We drove down the Oregon coast and then drove around that area. Pine trees are awesome … and I love Papa Murphy’s! *is coming right over there* 😉
Oh my GOSH, that’s hilarious. A review of California. 😂😂😂👍
Thank you! 😀 I’m so glad you enjoyed it. 🙂 😛
Ooooh I’ve been to the USS Midway too! We went with a family that my mom knew on Facebook that came from Alaska to visit a few years ago. It was a cool place, but it was super hot that day. I remember the small restaurant area being very expensive as well as the gift store. The airplanes were very cool, but we stood around for a while with the sun directly on us. I specifically remember my mom and the other mom joking about me and her son a year older than me meeting, falling in love, and getting married. Meh, so annoying and embarrassing xD *blushes*
It was still cool to see all the old airplanes and everything! I’m glad you got to go visit California and I loved your photos! 😀
It was pretty cool! YES, it was so expensive! We got icecream, and it was SUPER expensive! It was like … I don’t know, $5? UGh …
Haha! That is so embarrassing. xP That’s kinda-sorta happened to me? Not exactly the same, though … not in front of his mom! 😛
Direct sunlight is not fun! It was kinda cold/windy that day, so other than being a little chilly when we were up on the deck, it was okay. 🙂
Haha, this was such a fun post! 😀 Your pictures were either crazy or awesome and I loved it. 🙂 And I went to the USS Midway last year on choir tour! But we didn’t get to stay for very long, so I didn’t have time to get bored, hehe. I’m glad you had a fun trip! (Or at least it seems like you had a fun trip!)
Thank you! 😀 Oh, fun! Yeah, it wouldn’t have been boring if I hadn’t been there for several others. 😉 Yes, it was a great trip!!
