Personality Types in The Dressmaker’s Secret

 In Kell's Blog

As some of you may know, there are sixteen basic personality types and, more or less, everyone can be classed into one of them. I favor the INTJ personality. At least I think so. My mom thinks I may be an ISTP or something else.

Anyway, I took the personality test for the characters of my upcoming novel, The Dressmaker’s Secret … and here are the results I got. 🙂

~ Alice Chattoway ~

The main character, a curious eight-year-old girl determined to reunite her family, is an ….

ENTJ

Extraverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging.

Alice is, of course, highly inquisitive. She wants to know everything about everybody. She is extremely idealistic, a perfectionist, and her weakness lies in her not realizing that she isn’t able to fix all the world’s problems by herself. She is efficient, energetic, self-confident, strong-willed, and charismatic, but she can also be stubborn (incredibly so), intolerant, impatient, and arrogant.

~ Claire Chattoway ~

Alice’s mother, independent and hard-working, distrusting  most of humankind except a carefully-selected few, is an ….

ISTJ

Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging.

Due to a difficult childhood (and young adulthood) Claire is hesitant to reveal her deep emotions, sure that love and trust can only lead to pain. She can be honest and direct, though often she’s somewhat vague, not wanting to reveal too much about herself. She is dutiful and responsible, calm and practical. She can be stubborn, insensitive, and judgmental.

~ Ivy Chattoway ~

Alice’s twin sister, quiet, dreamy, and oblivious of the world, is an ….

INFP

Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging.

Of course, Ivy’s ways are a little different from any personality since she has a mental disablement … but INFP is essentially what she would be were she not disabled. She can be easily depressed or terrified and will often become physically ill if put in a stressful situation. She often finds the outside world too crazy to live in and hides in her shell until the craziness passes.

~ Nettie ~

Claire’s maid and confidant, Alice and Ivy’s governess, gentle and dependable, is an ….

ISFJ

Introverted, Sensing, Feeling, Judging.

The mainstay of anyone who needs encouragement, Nettie is definitely and ISFJ … I barely had to think about it! She is highly supportive, reliable, patient, and loyal. Nettie often operates behind the scenes, letting others take the glory for what they couldn’t have done without her. She’s often too altruistic, giving up her dreams for Claire’s without a second thought, assuming that everyone is better than herself. I could go on about Nettie for an hour, but I think it’s time to move on. 🙂

I’m not going to tell you about any more of the characters. I know how incredibly boring it must have been to read about my characters and I commend you if you got this far. 🙂

I’d suggest you take the test … for yourself first (because knowing about yourself can help you a lot in the world … trust me! 😉 ) and then for your characters! It really has helped me figure a lot out about mine so I could better write them … and it should be helpful for you, too! 🙂

Seriously? I’d probably think of him as more … bouncing-on-a-trampoline-telling-the-plot-of-all-the-Ice-Age-movies-to-sister’s-friend.

Hey, Kell! I just read this thing on the ESFP article that said that ESFP’s like to challenge themselves, and it gave two examples! One example was a long term plan thingy (inconsequential) and the other example was challenging themselves to watch their sugar intake!!! Remember my New Year resolutions?!?! The one about the sugar!?!?
    *does a victory dance*
That website is waaay super exact!!!
