fivefallfavorites
Hello ladies and gents!
Welcome to my blog … and to my second post in Five Fall Favorites 2017! (Yes, I am copying a little of what I said yesterday, but it’s hard to be different every day for a week!)
Invitation

To find out more, check out today’s post by Rebekah A. Morris. Through this post, you will also find the other blogs participating, etc. Which is all stuff you need to find the “book room” for the day. (More on that later!)
Basically, we’re sharing our favorite books in six categories, handing out free ebooks, and giving away a grand prize including several paperbacks! (The winners will be announced this Saturday.) (And if we get enough entries, we will add a second … and then a third … prize!)

A drumroll, please!

Five Christian Romance Books

This was soooooo easy since I love, love, love romance! Specifically historical romance. Which … yep, all of these are historical romance. *hides* Sorry, I just can’t help it! I’m being honest about my favorites with y’all!

A Distant Melody by Sarah Sundin

6633798

Oh, man, what can I say about this book … it’s just so good! The drama, the era, the adorableness … I CAN’T EVEN AND I PROMISED MYSELF I WOULD NOT “CAN’T EVEN” AGAIN AAAH! I reviewed it here if you want to see further thoughts.

A Lasting Impression by Tamera Alexander

This was just an incredibly well-written, beautiful book. I loved the themes and the setting and just … wow. Claire and Sutton were both amazing characters, too. My review can be found here.

A Worthy Heart by Susan Anne Mason

This is the second book in the Courage to Dream series. The first one was okay … but this one was infinitely better! See my review.

An Elegant Facade by Kristi Ann Hunter

27066722

This was an amazing book! It even features a character with a learning disability, which isn’t something you see a lot in historical romance (mostly because, you know, it has to dominate the plot because of the social prejudice and such). But it was super well done and beautiful and just … wow, Colin was a great character!

Freckles by Gene Stratton Porter

381608

This is one of the most amazing books out there! It’s not historical romance, but rather a lesser-known classic, and it is so good! You should read it. Like, now. So you can learn what true nobility looks like. *sobs*

“Book Rooms?”

Now, here’s another way (besides the giveaway) to get your hands on some free books! (I’m repeating myself.)
Every day, one blog in the party with host the ‘book room.’ The ‘book room’ will have a free ebook – probably a short story or novella – for everyone!
So find it to get a free ebook! HURRY! (I mean, there’s no rush, but y’know … go do that now …) (You can track down the book room through Rebekah’s blog.)
On that note, my room for today is …

FFF - barns

That’s right! Barns! I love barns! The hay and animal smell, the creatures inside … it’s awesome. I could live in a barn. No problem. And then I’d have an excuse for my terrible table manners.

Until tomorrow,

~Kellyn Roth~

  1. Now that I know your favorite historical fiction (it is the best genre, am I right?) I feel urged to read them. I have actually read “A Distant Melody” (You’re right; it was amazing!) and I want to read other Sarah Sundin books. I already have “A Lasting Impression” and “An Elegant Facade” on my TBR list. (I find it interesting that you liked this Kristi Ann Hunter book, but you really disliked “An Uncommon Courtship”. I suppose it just is a reminder that all books by the same author don’t have to be good!) Oh, and I have “Freckles” added to my TBR list, too. You convinced me I should read Gene Stratton Porter. 😉 Plus, Carol Ayers read “The Keeper of the Bees”, so I want to read that, too. So… yeah. I didn’t add any of your books because I already have them all. 😛

    1. (Yes, the best genre ever! 😀 ) Oh, you did? I didn’t realize! Yay! 😀 You should read the other ones … although I admit some have more content than others. :/ It was always well-dealt with, but use caution. 😉
I really liked the first two Kristi Ann Hunter books in the Hawthorne House series … but the third was pretty awful.
READ. PORTER. NOW. 😛 I’ve read all her books, and she’s amazing! 😀

      1. Yeah, I read it, and wrote a review.
Okay! *cowers* I can try, but I need to read Idylls of the King… and Shakespeare’s plays… and other classics I read for school… and other books, like Gilbert Morris books, Thoene series, and Grace Livingston Hill books, are ones we actually own. So they’re a lot easier to obtain. I never get pleasure reads from the library anymore. *sigh*

        1. I have around six library books that want me to read them … I don’t think I’ve ever let them pile up like that! *has been busy* So I know what you mean about lots of books to read (even pleasure reads). :/

  2. Is ‘A Distant Melody” a WWII book?
    WWII is awesome!
Romances are so good! Especially if they are Christian!

  3. Neat books! One book I love that has clean romance in it is “The Witch of Blackbird Pond” a must read! I haven’t found the book room yet, must find it!! 😀

    1. I haven’t actually read The Witch of Blackbird Pond all the way through. :/ I started it when I was really too little to understand it, and I just never picked it up again. 🙂

  4. I’ve been wanting to read Sarah Sundin’s book. Maybe I can convince my mom to let me….
So many awesome books everyone is recommending! 😀

    1. I might actually recommend starting with “Through Waters Deep” for your first Sundin if your mom lets you. Here’s my review: https://reveriesreviews.wordpress.com/2016/11/07/through-waters-deep-by-sarah-sundin/ Though, I don’t know … A Distant Melody was just as good, come to think of it. The thing I’m worried about though was that there was a mention of homosexuality (treated as wrong, but you know, it’s there; I talked about it in my review), and I’m not sure what your rules are. 🙂

    1. I think that’s the only one, too! I had to restrain myself, though.
Not really; I just had a lot of other books to share this year. But Freckles just snuck in … 😉

  5. All of these books look awesome! I too love historical romance. Especially in the Victorian era. Thanks so much for the suggestions, and I’ll definitely be entering the giveaway! (Who doesn’t love free books?)
    Blessings!
