fivefallfavorites

Hello ladies and gents!
Welcome to my blog … and to my THIRD post in Five Fall Favorites 2017! I’m sure you remember the amazing blog party we did last year, and if you don’t, this invitation will give you the highlights:
Invitation

To find out more, check out today’s post by Rebekah A. Morris. Through this post, you will also find the other blogs participating, etc. Which is all stuff you need to find the “book room” for the day. (More on that later!)
Basically, we’re sharing our favorite books in six categories, handing out free ebooks, and giving away a grand prize including several paperbacks! (The winners will be announced this Saturday.) (And if we get enough entries, we will add a second … and then a third … prize!)
We’re going to have so much fun! I can’t wait to share my favorites in each category with you. This, especially, was a fun category for me … but you’ll see!

And now, our feature presentation …

Serieses

This was hard … because I hard to narrow down all the awesome. I know sooo many amazing series, and picking just one? Let’s just say it was a trial. However, it was a lot of fun.
Here are five amazing series (that you should probably check out!)

Edwardian Brides by Carrie Turansky

34877576

I just can’t explain how amazing this series is. It is definitely my favorite Christian Historical Romance series; I don’t know where it ranks with all the other books, but it’s high on the list.

Wings of Glory by Sarah Sundin

What can I even say about this series? The era, the characters, the Christianity … oh, gosh. It is just soooo good! There’s no author and no series I recommend more than this one to lovers of WW2 fiction. Seriously. It’s amaze!

The Ultimate Nyssa Glass by H.L. Burke

33153576

Which reminds me that at some point I really need to review this. This was a great series. I didn’t expect to enjoy it (what? My family’s thing is beating up on each other … I think … at least, I’m assuming so … I haven’t been giving the Official Family Guidebook, you see …), but I really did. It was clever, unique, suspenseful, and funny all at once.

The American Journey by John A. Heldt

29922773

Although this is a secular series, and some of the books have quite a few content problems, I’d recommend it. Just be careful about which of the books you choose to read if you’re a young adult reader. I have actually not read the first book in the series (they all function as stand-alones), but I’ve read all the rest and enjoyed most of them.

Check out my review archives on my blog and scroll down to “Heldt” to read reviews of all of the books except the first one.

Betsy-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace

I felt that y’all needed a children’s series. So here I am. Anticipating your need. Really, though, this is one of the best series out there. The author based it off her childhood, and that makes it that much better. Who does love author Betsy, sweet little Tacy, no-nonsense tomboy Tib, and all the rest?

  1. Wings of Glory…. *heart eyes* I chose Wings of the Nightingale for today, since I included A Distant Melody yesterday. XD

  2. I could say, “I’ve read two!” But that doesn’t mean I’ve read two of your series’s. It means I’ve read two of the books. *cries* Why can’t I finish a series? I need to read the two last Edwardian Brides books, (I really liked the first one) and I also really want to read the rest of the Wings of Glory series. On that note, I don’t think I even finished the Betsy-Tacy series. I think I read the first two, but…

    1. HANNA. FINISH A SERIES. 😛
Seriously, though, both the Edwardian Brides and Wings of Glory series are AMAZING. And you should definitely finish the Betsy-Tacy series! I know the first books are more for younger kids, but there are the four highschool books and then Betsy and the Great World and Betsy’s Wedding and they are all soooo worth the read!

      1. Yikes! Now I have Kellyn commanding my life. 😛
I believe it! I wanted to buy the next Edwardian Brides book off of Amazon, but it was too expensive. (I, like my whole family, am such a cheapskate. :P) Oh, are the later Betsy-Tacy books for older readers? I didn’t know that, but, yeah, I’d like to finish that series. 😉

          1. I don’t know, but I hope it doesn’t mean that you’re acting like a dictator. XD
(Yes, I would much rather be a cheapskate than a spendthrift) But I don’t even know what to put on my TBR list, because I don’t remember exactly what I’ve read! I don’t even remember the first book, even though I know I read it. I hate it when that happens.

            1. That happens to me, too! After a couple months, it’s as if reading the book never happened! If I write a review right off, sometimes I can reread the review and slowly remember what I thought, but … yeah. I pretty much forget it all.

  3. I know I’ve read some of the Betsy-Tacy books. 🙂 But that was a long time ago. I haven’t read the others. More recommendations for Sarah Sundin. Maybe we should have invited her to the party! 🙂
Thanks for sharing! I know just how hard it is to pick only 5 favorite series. I had over 30 different series on my bookshelves. And that doesn’t count the ones on the family bookshelves!

    1. Yes, she seems to be a big favorite! I know Faith and Jesseca both love her as much as I do, so that makes sense. 🙂
It was really tough! I had to narrow down a lot. Whoa, that’s a lot of series to choose from! 😀

  4. Betsy and Tacy’s are so cute! We have one of the books, and it is absolutely wonderful!
I need to read one of those series! They all look so good!
I like the Giver series by Lois Lowry, if you don’t mind kinda-sorta-not really-magic………
    😉

      1. Yes! My favorite one is the third one……I keep rereading my favorite parts……………Prepare to cry on that one!
        😉

          1. Haha! They always tell of the persons life in the 1st and 2nd and then in the 3rd they always get married……….
Except these books no one gets married…..er…..they don’t talk about it. Someone is married in the last book that is not married in the 3rd book, but this was years later…………… And the 4th one is like three parts, but one book.
They are really good! You should definitely read them!
I hope you can make sense of that.

            1. That’s weird, because I have a third book myself in which the main character gets married … and come to think of it, it’s also very dramatic. Though perhaps not as dramatic as the first … hmm …
There is a pattern … I just need to find it! 😀

  5. (Can I just say thank you for pluralizing the word series too? I can’t ever figure out how to do it.) 😉 Aw, the Betsy-Tacy books are sooo cute! I’ve only read the first two or so, but I want to try some later ones.

    1. (Someone needed to make that a word … 😉 ) Yes, they’re so adorable! The later ones are even better, though. They were geared more towards teens, and Betsy’s high school adventures are hilariously dramatic. 😛

  6. Series! My top five are easy…
    Elsie Dinsmore
    Five Little Peppers
    Little House on the Prairie
    Ilyon Chronicles
    Six Cousins
    What a fun party!

  7. I haven’t read any of these, but I hope to check some of them out! Thanks for the recommendations! Series are great, except for when you have one in the middle of the series and everyone’s saying it’s not a standalone but the other ones are too expensive and you want to read it before you spend money on the other ones. Ugh. XD

        1. Ah, okay, so lots of them! I’ve done that before, mostly because I’ll order the whole series from the library and then have to wait for all of them but like the last one … *moans* Another time someone got me the first and third book in a series! I was so frustrated. XD

  8. I have the Betsy Tacey Treasury, I need to re-read it! A series I adore is the “South Seas Adventures” sometimes called the “Abby Series” by Pamela Walls. It’s an 8 book Christian adventure series that i LOVE and have read multiple times! 😀

    1. Tib is so much fun! I think she might be my favorite, too. Although Tacy is just so adorable. I love how she’s just like, “Nope. Not interested in boys.” And then she meets … oh, what’s his name? I can’t remember. And she’s just like, “Yep. He’s the one.” XD That would seriously be me. Except I’m not super shy like her … so I don’t know.

    1. That’s a series????? I haven’t even read Little Women, and I go and find out it’s a series…………….
All we have is an old copy, that my older sister is very protective over……………

    1. It is quite amazing! I think A Distant Melody was probably my second favorite … I liked Blue Skies Tomorrow Best, partially because the title is cool. 😉
