At Her Fingertips, Blog Tour & Launch, Day 2 – Introducing Alice

by Kellyn Roth |
July 15, 2021

Y’all, we’re here. It’s day 2 of the At Her Fingertips blog tour (which also goes by the name “Introducing Alice”).

Other than the ongoing Instagram tour, blog posts, and giveaway, I’ll also be introducing Alice in a few words. <3 So let’s do it!

ABOUT THE BOOK

She’s willing to do anything to follow her plan.

Debutante Alice Knight is ready for her first social season in London. She’s determined to impress society and her mother with an affluent match, at last escaping her past and embracing a future of her own making.

Peter Strauss, an American reporter visiting England, isn’t exactly what Alice had in mind. However, his friendship proves invaluable as Alice faces the challenges of her debut. Almost immediately, she attracts the attention of a well-born gentleman—perfect save for the simple fact that he’s not a Christian.

The life she longs for is finally at her fingertips, but between her own heart and the convictions of her faith, she isn’t sure she ought to grasp it.

Today I’m going to introduce the main character of my novel, Alice. This is going to be interesting, to say the least, given that Alice is an ENTJ Type 8, which is … intense to say the least.

She’s my Lady Mary character, and I couldn’t be prouder – but she tends to be too blunt and forceful for most people.

I have a lot of fun with Alice because she’s deeply flawed and not necessarily the quickest to correct said flaws … so she requires patience and a lot of careful writing.

A few facts about Alice:

  • Alice loves horses! She’s been riding since she was eight years old, and on the back of a horse is truly where she’s happiest.
  • Alice’s best friend is Mary Cassidy O’Connell, an Irish earl’s daughter who she once saved from a bully.
  • Though not a big reader, Alice is attached to the works of Charles Dickens – for sentimental reasons. Particularly A Christmas Carol.
  • (Apparently, Sydney Carton is the ideal man? Peter and Ivy disagree, but that’s what Alice thinks.)
  • According to one character in book 3, Alice’s eyes are more dark gray than black. However, I’m not sure how true that is, frankly.

An interview with Alice:

Hello Alice! Welcome to the blog. Tell me – how do you feel about the rewrite?

Honestly, you could’ve left well enough alone. The last version was a bit more pain-free, and it was already a difficult novel to live through. Yet, at the same time, I’m glad Miss Roth is driving for excellence. That is one of the most important things in life, after all.

What’s your favorite color?

This is rather a silly question. Does it matter? I suppose I prefer softer pinks, but that’s hardly a necessary preference.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would undoubtedly change a few details of my personality. Brush out some sins I lean toward more than others – make myself softer around the edges. Everyone is already commenting that I’m too forceful – too driven.

If you could own a pet of any type of animal, regardless of how impractical, what would you choose?

A dog, of course! What’s wrong with that? I wouldn’t want to own something exotic. That wouldn’t be practical.

How do you feel about the upcoming book 5 where you’ll be featured again?

No. The best description of how I feel would just be, “No.”

Today only, you can ask Alice special questions in the comment sections of this post! Just specify who they’re for, and I’ll be sure to answer them!

TTFN

P.S.

So … what do you think of today’s posts? Have you entered the giveaway yet? What’s something you have in common with Alice (and something you don’t)? If you have anything in common with her, I mean …

What do you think of my thoughts?

  1. Alice- is it ever acceptable to do something impractical?

Kellyn- loved today’s post! I entered the giveaway today! Something I have in common with Alice is that people are always telling me to mellow out ? but on the flip side I’m not as pushy as I used to be.

    1. Alice: Of course it’s not! Not if you can help it. But sometimes it just can’t be helped …

Yup, I probably share that trait with Alice, too, in some ways. 😛

  2. Like Alice, I prefer dogs, and Alice and I share the same name. My name is Alicia and in school some classmates would call me Alice. I loved reading this blog, very nice to know you a little better. Have a Great week and stay safe.

    1. Thank you! Nice to have you here. Hope you are having/had a great week here, too! (Alicia was actually a name I considered for Alice for a long time, too!)

What do you think of my thoughts?
